Japan Plagued By Solar UFO Pool Cleaners
If you happen to be wandering around Osaka, Japan you may be forgiven for thinking that the Invasion has started and CNN didn’t get the memo.
Don not be alarmed, UFO shaped devices are not from mars, they are actually from NTT, the Tokyo based engineering group. Powered not by some alien technology, but from something closer to home but still from outer space. Solar Energy from the sun is the clean driving force here put to a good environmentally beneficial uses for water filtration.
Weighing in at a colossal 3.4 tons and rising 5 foot tall with a diameter of 16 feet along with their alien looking shape they are quite impressive. Like your pool filter you may have at home, which also come in the solar powered variety, these pool filters work on a larger scale. They can filter through 2,400 gallons of water each day along with replacing oxygen in the water that animal life needs to survive and keeps the water healthy.

Water is sprayed from the top of these machines like a fountain that has the additional effect of acting as a coolant for the UFO. During darkness, the solar powered filter will use LED lighting to further enhance that UFO effect that we all associate with alien devices. LED illumination uses much less energy than conventional lighting and are powered from energy stored during the daylight
Initially only 2 of these devices will be in operation, one in a moat around Osaka Castle and the other in a canal nearby. NTT plan to add more UFO filters around the rivers and canals of Tokyo in the future.
Automated water cleaners could become normal around waterways and rivers, perhaps one day roaming the seas collecting that Goo which seems to gather in clumps around out oceans. Given the Japanese innovation and advancements, especially in robotics, solar powered devices ( although they may not be UFO`s) are a possibility, Waterways have a much less human population than land and would serve as an ideal training ground. Life alternate gives this solar powered water filter a things up just for such a great idea. You don’t have to miss out, solar powered pool filters are available for home use, although flashing lights may not be as UFOish as the NTT design.
