Samsung Reclaim BioDegradable Mobile Phone
Solar powered phones are the ideal gadget to go solar. Although each phone uses just a little amount of electrical energy, all up all the phones in the world and the amount of energy saved in total becomes something to be proud about. So we are using less energy to power our phone, what about getting a little big greener with what our mobile phones are made out off.
Bioplastics or plastics made from plants such as corn have turned up in this latest offering from Samsung in the form of the Reclaim mobile phone. Samsung say that 40 percent of their casing is made corn based biodegradable plastic. Readers should note that mobile phones contain lots of toxic metals and the manufacturing and mining that makes them overall not the most environmentally friendly devices. As going solar maybe be a step in reducing the toxicity of our usage, going bio degradable in the materials is another small step.

Growing fields and fields of corn to make mobile phone casings is not an ideal use of land and resources. As a stop gap to reduce the usage of petroleum based plastics it is palatable option.
The bioplastic technology is a new field but is growing, until mostly small items and packaging were made from the plastics, but now with advancements improvements have been made in the quality of the plastics that allow it to expand in to devices that need to be more durable and aesthetic looking.
The Samsung Reclaim itself has a slide out keyboard and includes GPS. Being web enabled means that you could keep up to date with news, sports and websites like LifeAlternate. An added feature that users may notice is a bright green glow from the mobile phone when it becomes fully powered up while connected to its charger. And as you know the case if made from 40 percent biodegradable plastic.
