Green Living

Supporters of Green Living have been around for decades if not since time began. Here at LifeAlternate we don’t want to live green. We want to Live Life, Live it Cheaper and lastly Be Green if we have too.
Going Green is no doubt a benefit for all of us and for those not yet born. A very important subject even if it is third on our list. So how about some idea of Green Living to take on without costing you the earth.
We all know but these are worth a recap..

Saving Water – Showering more than bathing, brushing your teeth with the tap running or letting the water tap run for any reason. Low flush toilets. Water is already a valuable resource that is becoming too valuable to waste, get used to using less now before the costs escalate.
Hot water along with Home heating account for around 80% of your energy bills, adjusting that boiler temperature down a little bit costs you less, you only heat the water then add some  from the cold tap now anyway.

Cutting Energy Use – Turning down the thermostat on your home heating by a degree or two will hardly be felt until you see the savings on your energy bill, 10% savings are easily possible here and a nice little sum to go towards that holiday in the sun.

Energy Efficient Products – Those are really standard now, manufacturers are already promoting their products as energy efficient, but when you buy its always worth a look at the figures as well as the other features. From solar calculators to larger items like televisions and Freezers every little bit of saving adds up over the years.

Cutting Energy Loss – Insulation, wall and loft as well as draught proofing your windows and doors should already be done. If not, its one of the cheaper investments to massively save money on energy costs.

Fuel Efficient Transport – A not so frequent purchase but getting more miles to the gallon is just a Cool now as driving your SUV around town.

Fresh Food – Hit or miss here, much will depend on what food you like but if you have an option go for the choice that has less processing. Pick loose fruit and vegetables rather than packed in plastic. This is not really a big money saving option, more of a environmental choice.
