The American based company, DuPont is increasing its solar energy developments in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, China, with a boost of US$160 million.

DuPont are in talks with Hong Kong companies that will bring solar power projects to the city. In Shenzhen, DuPont aims to replace the glass walls of several buildings with thin film solar cells. The future market for Thin film solar cells are expected to be double that of crystalline silicon panels

DuPont currently has a research center hosted in the Shatin science park in Hong Kong and manufacturing capability in Shenzhen. The establishment of the research and development center was to assist the growth of solar energy projects around the Perl River Delta. The company is no stranger to the region, having set up manufacturing capability in Shenzhen over 20 years ago.

DuPont was founded in 1802 and currently is established in more that 70 countries around the world. Operating a wide field of products from food products to building and transportation.
