Solar Golf Cart Hong Kong

Hong Kong`s Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course has recently retrofitted its 205 golf car fleet to run on solar power. Believed to be the worlds first Gold Course to use solar technology to drive its entire fleet of golf cars.

Photovolitaic solar panels have been fitted to the roof of each golf cart and continuously charges up the cars existing batteries. The installations were engineered by Solar, a company from Denmark that specializes in off-grid solar technology. This is the commitments of the Kau Sia Chau drive for responsible environmental management.

solar golf cartThe solar powered cars should be able to out perform the unconverted cars with the solar panels continuously keeping the batteries are maximum power while the car is in use, something traditional golf cars cannot do.

Estimated figures of between 50 percent to 70 percent of electrical energy consumption is hoped to be saved along with the extended life of the batteries is expected to generate savings of $387,500HKD ($50,000USD) across the entire fleet.

sai kungKau Sai Chau is the only public golf course in Hong Kong and was developed with funds donated by The Hong Kong Jockey Club. It hosts three 18 hole golf courses. Tow of which were designed by the legendary golfer Garry Player. Situated in the Sia Kung Peninsula which has become an environmental sanctuary.
